Circuland, an innovative London-based startup specializing in integrating the circular economy into the construction industry, today announces its €750k pre-seed funding round. The company’s platform provides solutions for Digital Product and Material Passports in construction. The round was led by Apeiron Ventures, with the participation of Astylab Ventures.
The funds will be used to accelerate Circuland’s product development and expand its team, positioning the company as a leader in Digital Product Passports for construction products, buildings, and infrastructure in the coming years. Digital Product and Material Passports record information across the entire lifecycle of construction materials (production, construction, use, deconstruction), enabling their reuse and value recovery, effectively turning buildings into Material Banks. They support sustainability, waste reduction, and the implementation of circular economy principles in construction. This approach aligns with the upcoming EU requirements under the Digital Product Passport (DPP) policy framework, as well as broader sustainability initiatives, including the Circular Economy Action Plan of the EU Green Deal.
Circuland’s platform has already attracted the attention of leading organizations and Fortune 500 companies in the UK and Europe, helping reduce carbon emissions and construction waste through the promotion of material reuse.
“We are extremely excited to have the support of Apeiron Ventures and Astylab Ventures,” said Anastasia Stella, CEO and Co-Founder of Circuland. “This funding will allow us to meet the growing demand for our solutions and strengthen the promotion of our products, supporting circular economy adoption in the construction sector.” Angelos Mermiklis, CTO and Co-Founder, added: “Having witnessed the transformation brought by data accessibility and transparency in the financial sector, we bring this experience into the construction environment, turning buildings into Material Banks.”
On behalf of Apeiron Ventures, Partners Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou and Nikos Antoniou emphasized the transformative potential of Circuland’s technology in the construction industry. “The construction sector is responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions and accounts for 62% of all waste generated in the UK. Despite its size, the sector has seen little technological innovation to date. Circuland’s vision perfectly aligns with our mission to back revolutionary, sustainable technologies. We believe Digital Product Passports can become the benchmark for circular economy solutions in construction, while Circuland’s Data Warehouses will significantly improve decision-making in both building and maintenance.”
